"The Gene Chapman Find"

On June 16, 2021, shortly after I finished measuring the Noah's Ark Excavation Site at 515 feet in length, our tour group walked around the right rear of the boat.  I looked over and said, "That's different.  That looks like a 4"x4", a Texas fence post with the top cracked out by the weather."  It would become know as "the Gene Chapman find."

As I tapped on it with my right index finger several times, I noted that it did not sound like rock.  It had more resonance, was more hollow, like wood.  As I pulled on it a bit, it was clearly not superficially attached. It's connected to something deep or big under the mud, like a beam, something substantial that moves not at all.
